NNMC Interns Explore Career Opportunities in the Community In Fall 2024, Northern New Mexico College’s (NNMC) Career Services Department launched a transformative internship program designed to provide career-ready opportunities for first-generation college students from underserved communities. The internships are designed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and workforce readiness. During the program’s first year, Career Services has placed 50 students in paid internships across a range of high-demand fields.

Northern New Mexico College welcomes new Provost René L. Vellanoweth Northern New Mexico College is pleased to welcome René L. Vellanoweth, PhD, as its new Provost and VP for Academic Affairs. “Dr. Vellanoweth brings over two decades of experience in higher education, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, securing external funding, and championing initiatives that uplift student success. His work as a coastal and island archaeologist has further distinguished him, to include international research collaborations, extensive publications, and a steadfast commitment to mentorship,” said NNMC President Hector Balderas.
